A man like Ravindran is a man of attitude. When he puts his heart, mind and soul to a project, there is only one direction and that is to take flight upwards to the stars.
I am happy for his recent promotion which he obtained. I knew this day would come sooner or later. It happened on 1st July, 2014 at the Samarahan Country Club.
It easy to spot Ravi from a distance, just look out for his "cowboy hat" a special identity which he created over the years even when I knew him back in Kuala Lumpur.
“Ravi
has set some excellent performances. After 17-months he managed the club well and brought
it to tournament standards. It was only fitting for the Management Committee to
reward him with this new title,” said Brian Chien, the President of Samarahan
Country Club.
Ravi
joined Samarahan on 1st February 2013 after leaving the Malaysian
Golf Association (MGA) back in 2012. With the guidance of the Management
Committee, Ravi has managed to streamline the management aspects of The Sarawak
Club Golf Resort for Samarahan Country Club (a take over which took place on
1st July 2014).
When
asked him about his new position, he put it humbly: “Success is an Attitude. It’s
not about me alone. It was teamwork. I received great support and cooperation
and this allowed us to hit our target. I am grateful to everybody at Samarahan
Country Club who believed in me. From my heart, I say thank you to all of you. It’s an honour
to be in Sarawak, particular in the Samaharan District. I will assist the
locals in whatever manner I can and together we will work hard on improving the
standard of golf management,” Ravindran said happily.
Ravindran’s
career in golf took flight in 1985 when he was appointed as Administrative
Assistant at the Senior Golfers Society. Two years later, he was promoted as
the Administrator, before becoming Manager from 1990 until 2004 when he took up
the post of Senior Manager at the MGA before being promoted in 2006 as the Deputy
General Manager. His hard work and selfless commitment to the association saw
him achieve the General Manager’s post in 2008, a post which he held until
2012.
